Tripoli, Libya, 21st September 2016, The Libyan, Post & Telecoms holding company (LPTIC) has reviewed an article issued by the online news agency Connectionivoirienne on 20th September 2016. The article made erroneous claims and provided incorrect information concerning the legitimacy of the appointment of the Chairman of LPTIC’s Board of Directors. The false claims used by the news agency in its feature were based on inaccurate information provided to it by the Public Relations Company Portland Communications. LPTIC’s Chairman, Board of Directors and executive management were surprised that the news agency did not provide a right of reply, nor did it request a response to confirm or deny the claims and false allegations provide by the PR firm. Likewise, none of the claims or assertions were supported by proof, evidence or formal record, and so are little more than hearsay. LPTIC’s management confirms with complete certainty through this press release that the Chairman of LPTIC’s Board of Directors is Dr. Faisal Ahmed Gergab.
He has the complete authority to represent the Company domestically and internationally as outlined under the Resolution No. (1) 2013 concerning the constitution of the Board of Directors for the Company issued by LPTIC’s General Assembly. The claims proffered by the PR firm are incorrect and LPTIC is currently in the process of taking the necessary legal procedures against those that have communicated or continue to circulate such falsehoods. Subsequently, LPTIC’s management requests that media channels take the necessary precautions in verifying the accuracy of information concerning LPTIC prior to publication.
