In the context of its policy to streamline the state workforce, the Guinean government has announced the dismissal of 5,125 civil service employees. The measure is included in several decrees signed on June 18, 2026 by the Minister of Modernization of Administration and Civil Service, Faya François Bourouno.
According to the information provided, 4,906 employees are dismissed for desertion. The other 219 cases concern civil servants who have exceeded the legal duration of five years provided for in a placement on leave.
This operation concerns several sectors of the administration, including the presidency of the Republic as well as the ministries of Education, Health, Justice, Foreign Affairs, Security, Environment, and Tourism.
Before their final dismissal, the employees in question had been subject to a provisional suspension of three months. Their dismissal was pronounced in the absence of a return to service within the specified deadline.
The ministry specifies, however, that despite the definitive nature of the dismissal, former civil servants retain their pension rights, in accordance with current regulations.
