La dénomination de Wari Bank International pourrait changer si l’on en croit la Commission bancaire de l’UEMOA. Cette commission a examiné la demande d’agrément du groupe Planor Afrique et ses partenaires dans le projet de la mise en place de Wari Bank International au Burkina Faso. Cependant, elle a reporté sa réponse à cause de la dénomination de cette banque.
Selon la Commission bancaire, la dénomination Wari Bank International (WBI) et particulièrement «Wari», qui est choisie par les promoteurs, pourrait créer une confusion avec d’autres établissements évoluant déjà dans le secteur de la finance.
Ainsi, un nouveau nom a été soumis à la commission bancaire par les promoteurs. Pour rappel, tout projet de création de banque doit passer devant la Commission bancaire de l’UEMOA qui, via la BCEAO, le valide ou non.
Du côté des promoteurs en l’occurrence le groupe Planor Afrique, la confiance est de mise. « La Commission doit poursuivre ses vérifications. Nous estimons que nous avons un dossier suffisamment transparent et nous espérons que l’agrément pourra être disponible cette année», soutiennent les responsables de Planor Afrique.
Le groupe Planor Afrique
Le groupe Planor Afrique S.A. est une holding fondée en mars 2004 par l’homme d’affaire burkinabè, Appollinaire COMPAORE. Elle réunit les anciennes sociétés de l’ex-groupe Burkina Moto. Ce groupe exerce ses activités dans le secteur financier (établissement de crédit et d’assurances) et dans le secteur du négoce et de l’industrie (les produits pétroliers, les cycles et cyclomoteurs, les produits cosmétiques, le tabac, le thé…).
Planor Afrique entretient des relations de partenariat avec Philip Morris, Seita, Bridgestone, CFAO et Bolloré. Au Burkina Faso, le groupe Planor Afrique S.A. Il intervient également dans le secteur des télécommunications à travers sa filiale Telecel Faso qui se positionne comme un opérateur en pleine expansion dans le secteur de la téléphonie mobile. En effet, depuis le 28 août 2008, Planor Afrique S.A. est devenu l’actionnaire majoritaire de Telecel Faso après avoir remporté le procès qui l’opposait au groupe Atlantique Telecom, son associé d’alors.
