The Secretary General of the Francophonie, Mrs. Louise Mushikiwabo, condemns the strikes that targeted Lebanon and its capital on April 8, causing the death of over 200 people. She extends her sincere condolences to the families of the victims and expresses the solidarity of the Francophone family with the Lebanese people on this day of national mourning. The Secretary General welcomes the announcement of a ceasefire on April 8 and calls for an acceleration of diplomatic efforts for a sustainable resolution of the conflict in the Middle East. She reminds that all parties are bound to respect international law, the only framework capable of guaranteeing a just and lasting peace for all countries in the region, including Lebanon. The OIF has 90 member states and governments: 53 members, 5 associate members, and 32 observers.
