The Professional Association of Banks and Financial Institutions of Senegal (APBEFS) carried out the handover of service on February 5 between the outgoing President, Mrs. Khady Boye HANNE, and the interim President, Mr. Sahid YALLOU.
Mrs. Khady Boye HANNE successively held the positions of First Vice-President, and since January 14, 2025, those of President of APBEFS, following her acclamation election.
Her mandate was marked by a strengthening of the internal structure of the Association, a revitalization of its technical committees, and a sustained dialogue with public and monetary authorities, in a context of transformation of the banking sector.
Under her presidency, APBEFS notably contributed to bringing banks closer to their users, promoting financing mechanisms adapted to SMEs, and supporting modernization and digitalization projects in the financial sector, in connection with competent institutions and stakeholders.
The banking community applauds the work accomplished by Mrs. Khady Boye HANNE, as well as her commitment to the cohesion of the profession and the financing of the Senegalese economy.
“The Presidency of APBEFS has been for me a collective responsibility, exercised in a spirit of dialogue, rigor, and service to the banking sector. I am pleased that the projects initiated can continue in a dynamic of continuity and strengthening of the role of banks in serving the Senegalese economy,” said Mrs. Khady Boye HANNE.
The interim Presidency of APBEFS is now assumed by Mr. Sahid YALLOU, who previously held the position of First Vice-President of the Association.
As the General Manager of Ecobank Senegal, he has a solid experience in the banking sector and a deep understanding of the challenges related to financing the economy, risk management, and modernization of financial services. He will ensure the interim Presidency until the next election, in accordance with the Association’s statutes.
Through this transition, APBEFS reaffirms its commitment to continue the projects initiated, strengthen the role of the banking sector in financing the national economy, and maintain a constructive dialogue with all stakeholders, in a spirit of responsibility and continuous improvement.
