The Ivorian government ratified a loan agreement of 30 billion CFA francs concluded with the West African Development Bank (BOAD). The announcement was made on July 22, 2026, following the Council of Ministers by government spokesperson Amadou Coulibaly. This funding is intended for the co-financing of the development and asphalting project of the Yabayo-Buyo road axis, which is 60 kilometers long in the southwest of the country.
According to Ivorian authorities, this project is part of the infrastructure modernization policy. It aims to improve the mobility of the population and facilitate the evacuation of local agricultural production. The improvement of this connection should also contribute to reducing transport costs and strengthening economic activity in this production area.
The project also includes related developments. It includes the asphalting of 8 kilometers of roads in Buyo, Dapéoua, and Yabayo, the construction of fences for schools and health centers, as well as the construction of ten drinking water wells and the development of public spaces.
Through this financing, BOAD continues to support infrastructure projects in Ivory Coast. The government believes that this project should support local economic dynamics and improve the service in this part of the territory.
