The Congolese Allegria Ntumba Luaba has been appointed Director of Business Development at the Africa Credit Rating Agency (AfCRA), the new African financial rating agency. This information was confirmed by the individual to Financial Afrik.
Originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Allegria Ntumba Luaba has held responsibilities in public administration and economic regulation. She has notably served as the Administrative and Financial Director of the Regulatory Authority for the Electricity Sector (ARE) in the DRC. Her background also covers governance, investment, and infrastructure development issues.
In her new role, she will be responsible for the commercial and institutional development of AfCRA, including seeking partnerships with states, financial institutions, companies, and investors. Her mission will also involve supporting the agency’s activities in African markets.
Officially launched on October 7, 2026 in Port Louis, Mauritius, where it is based, AfCRA aims to offer African expertise in sovereign and private credit risk assessment. Designed to complement the offerings of international agencies Moody’s, Fitch Ratings, and Standard & Poor’s, it aims to improve coverage of African issuers and contribute to a better understanding of the continent’s financial risks. Its main challenge will be to have its ratings recognized by investors and regulatory authorities, while ensuring its independence and the rigor of its methodologies.
