Dakar is set to become one of the focal points of the African energy debate next June. The organizing committee of the Africa Oil & Gas Expo (AFOGEX Dakar 2026) has announced that the next edition of the exhibition will be held from June 10 to 12, 2026 at the Abdou Diouf International Conference Center (CICAD) in Diamniadio.
Under the theme “Senegal: oil and gas discoveries, opportunities and challenges”, this edition comes at a strategic time marked by Senegal’s entry into the circle of hydrocarbon producers and the industrial transformation ambitions driven by the Vision Senegal 2050.
Leading up to the exhibition, discussions will be organized around the topic “Pooling energy resources in West Africa: sovereignty and local content”, a central issue as the MSGBC Basin region (Mauritania-Senegal-Gambia-Guinea-Bissau-Guinea) attracts increasing international investments.
Beyond being just a commercial showcase, AFOGEX Dakar 2026 aims to establish itself as a strategic platform for dialogue between governments, international companies, and local businesses. The debates will focus on renegotiating oil contracts, transparency in revenue management, and integrating Senegalese SMEs into the energy value chain.
“AFOGEX Dakar 2026 is designed to be the catalyst for Vision Senegal 2050. We want every barrel produced to generate a concrete opportunity for a local entrepreneur,” said the general commissioner of the exhibition.
Several highlights will structure this edition:
– Ministerial panels bringing together decision-makers from the MSGBC Basin and the African Petroleum Producers Organization (APPO)
– “Local Content” Pavilion dedicated to national companies seeking partnerships with international majors such as BP, Kosmos Energy, and Woodside
– Energy Innovation Forum, focusing on decarbonization technologies and energy transition solutions.
The organizing committee has also extended an official invitation to President Bassirou Diomaye Faye to preside over the opening ceremony, symbolizing the commitment of Senegalese authorities to sovereign and sustainable management of natural resources.
Considered one of the major new events in the energy industry in West Africa, AFOGEX Dakar 2026 is expected to bring together thousands of delegates, exhibitors, and investors to discuss the continent’s energy future and the opportunities presented by Senegal’s growing presence in the oil and gas sector.
