Libreville, June 28, 2025 – The PORTEO BTP Gabon group, the Gabonese state, and BGFI Bank have formalized a strategic partnership for the financing and construction of the Alembé – Lopé – Carrefour Leroy – Mykouyi road, during a ceremony presided over by the Head of State, Brice Clotaire Oligui, at the presidential palace. This project aims to transform a difficult road into a modern and accessible corridor, thus stimulating regional integration and economic growth.
The road, which will connect several key provinces (Moyen-Ogooué, Ogooué-Ivindo, Ogooué-Lolo, and Haut-Ogooué), is considered a vital infrastructure for opening up many localities. Its development is expected to reduce transport costs, improve population mobility, boost commercial exchanges, and facilitate the transportation of agricultural products and natural resources.
The construction contract was signed by the Minister of Finance, Henri Claude Oyima, on behalf of the Gabonese state, and by representatives of Porteo, including Yaya Konaté, General Manager of Porteo BTP Gabon, Mourad Abaoui, Director of the Roads Division, and Juliana Cossa, communication manager of the group. This project is in line with the priorities of the presidential mandate in terms of infrastructure and territorial development.
According to the stakeholders, this signing goes beyond the simple contractual framework: it represents a shared commitment to structured, interconnected, and sustainable development. For Yaya Konaté, the construction site is a symbol of the trust placed in African construction actors, and work will begin promptly.
Present on the continent, Porteo intends to reaffirm its status as a pan-African group capable of managing complex projects and attracting institutional financing. This initiative follows through on the ambitions expressed at the latest United States – Africa Business Summit, highlighting the increasing role of African operators in the implementation of structural infrastructure.
The development of this road therefore holds strategic significance, both for the Gabonese economy and territorial cohesion, and reflects a clear willingness to invest in infrastructure with a strong social impact.
