President Mamadi Doumbouya, elected on December 28th, has reappointed his transitional Prime Minister, Amadou Oury Bah, on Monday, January 27th, 2026. In office since February 27th, 2024, he is the one who led the presidential campaign of the Generation for Modernity and Development (GMD) movement of Mamadi Doumbouya to victory.
President Mamadi Doumbouya seems more than ever to rely on “Bah Oury”, as he is commonly called, to lead the reforms of his first seven-year term at the helm of Guinea. The 58-year-old politician has even been entrusted with the responsibility of organizing the independent movement “GMD” that brought Mamadi Doumbouya to victory, in view of the upcoming legislative and communal elections.
After leading the action of the transitional government for nearly two years, and then the GMD’s presidential campaign, this reappointment likely seals the political rapprochement between President Doumbouya and the president of the Union of Democrats for the Renaissance of Guinea (UDRG).
For Prime Minister Amadou Oury Bah, who seemed to have been forgotten in the Guinean political scene, it is almost a revenge on destiny. A political redemption embraced.
