The National Employers’ Union of Mauritania (UNPM) is the sole representative of the private sector in Mauritania and the main interlocutor of public authorities, social partners, and development partners.
Established in the early 1960s under various forms and names, the Union adopted its current structure in 2008 following several mergers of employers’ associations.

Role in Organizing MEDEX Mauritania
As part of its mission to promote the private sector and foster economic development, the UNPM, through its National Health Federation, serves as the official organizer of MEDEX Mauritania, the International Health Fair.
This large-scale continental event, which gathers major stakeholders in the medical field, demonstrates the UNPM’s commitment to fostering innovation, encouraging investment, and strengthening the capacity of Africa’s healthcare systems, while positioning Mauritania as a regional medical hub of excellence.
