Cairo: Capacity Building Workshop (Tax Evasion and Impact on Tax Audits)
The capacity building workshop on tax evasion and its impact on tax audits, organized by the North Africa Sub-Regional Office of the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), will be held from December 31, 2024, to January 4, 2025, in Cairo, Egypt. This event aims to train professionals and government officials on techniques for detecting and preventing tax evasion and improving tax audit practices.
Participants will discuss challenges and best practices in taxation and auditing, and exchange experiences with experts in the field. The workshop will cover topics such as tax evasion mechanisms, effective audit tools and methods, and fiscal policies to reduce public revenue losses due to tax evasion.

Organizer
The North Africa Sub-Regional Office of ECA, located in Rabat, Morocco, is led by a director under the direct authority of the Deputy Executive Secretary in charge of programs. Its main responsibilities include:
a) Strengthening the capacity of member states to develop and implement national policies and strategies for sustainable job creation;
b) Contributing to the implementation of sub-regional development priorities in line with the 2030 Agenda and Agenda 2063, considering youth and women’s perspectives;
c) Improving macroeconomic and fiscal policies for sustainable growth;
d) Providing technical assistance to member states, regional economic communities, and intergovernmental organizations to support economic, social, and political transformation, focusing on employment, skills, and balanced development, ensuring inclusive growth and equal opportunities for women and youth.
