Paris: 13th Annual Conference of the African Business Lawyers’ Club
The African Business Lawyers’ Club (ABLC) will hold its 13th annual conference on Thursday, October 24, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the headquarters of MEDEF International, focusing on the theme: “Cultural and Creative Industries: The Potential of Audiovisual Works for Africa.”
The ABLC Annual Conference will provide an opportunity to address the challenges faced by all stakeholders in this specific value chain and to understand the role of audiovisual works as a cultural consumer good.
It will feature two roundtable discussions:
- The Role of Stakeholders in the Film Value Chain in Africa: How to Create and Access Content?
- What Strategies to Value and Protect African Audiovisual Works?
Experts in African cinema and animation will present an overview of the audiovisual sector on the continent, addressing film production. This journey through the cinemas of Africa will explore the economic implications and current challenges of this rapidly expanding industry.
Highly qualified speakers from diverse backgrounds will represent the variety of stakeholders that contribute to the development of this value chain. Among them, we will be honored to have: Ms. Françoise Remarck-Le Guennou, Minister of Culture and Francophonie of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire; Ms. Grace Loubassou, Director of Institutional Relations and CSR Africa at Canal+ International; Ms. Gaëlle Mareuge, Cultural and Creative Industries Officer at AFD; Mr. Serge Noukoué, Co-founder of Nollywood Week; specialized lawyers Ms. Karine Riahi and Ms. Célia Alao from Gide Loyrette Nouel; as well as Mr. Mohamed Zoghlami, International Consultant in African Creative Industry & Metaverse, Vice-President of the Francophone and African Agency for Artificial Intelligence (AFRIA) and co-founder of 3D Netinfo school, among many others. In homage to the media explored, there will also be videographic interventions, including from the author-director of the film “Ni chaînes, ni maîtres,” Mr. Simon Moutaïrou.
