Economic cooperation between Ivory Coast and China reached a new milestone in 2025. The total volume of trade between the two countries reached 4,272 billion CFA francs, or $7.42 billion, an increase of 46.9% compared to 2024.
This figure was announced on July 31, 2026 by Wu Jie, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Ivory Coast, during the 2026 annual assembly of the Chamber of Commerce of Chinese Companies in Ivory Coast (CCECI), held in Abidjan.
During his speech, the diplomat highlighted several projects carried out by Chinese companies who are members of the CCECI, and then handed over to Ivorian authorities and put into operation. He notably mentioned the Gribo-Popoli hydroelectric power plant, the clean water supply program for twelve cities, the Akwaba intersection interchange, the cocoa processing plant in Abidjan, as well as seven vocational training establishments.
Wu Jie also emphasized the contribution of Chinese companies to the creation of local jobs and skills transfer. He mentioned that the CCECI had also facilitated the participation of its members in major economic events, including the International Agriculture and Animal Resources Exhibition (SARA), as well as in charitable actions.
Finally, the ambassador recalled that China has been the Ivory Coast’s top trading partner for eight consecutive years. He believed that the current momentum could further expand, in a context marked by the launch of the 15th Chinese Five-Year Plan and the Ivory Coast’s 2026-2030 National Development Plan.
