Spiro, a company specializing in electric mobility in Africa, announced on June 9, 2026, the appointment of Anant Badjatya as Group CEO. This appointment comes as part of strengthening the leadership team to support a new phase of growth and pan-African expansion.
Anant Badjatya has over twenty years of experience in leading and developing companies in India, the Middle East, and Africa. He has developed expertise in the electric mobility, energy, and industry sectors, and has led several large-scale transformation and growth projects throughout his career.
Prior to joining Spiro, he was the CEO of Indofast Energy, a joint venture founded by IndianOil and SUN Mobility. Under his leadership, the company developed one of the largest battery swapping networks in India, with over 1,800 operational stations serving nearly 90,000 vehicles daily.
This appointment comes at an important time for Spiro, a few months after completing a $215 million financing round, touted as one of the largest in the electric mobility sector in Africa. As Group CEO, Anant Badjatya will oversee all of the company’s activities, including battery swapping solutions, leasing, logistics, energy, and vehicle manufacturing.
In his new role, he will be responsible for strengthening the coherence of the group’s strategic initiatives and supporting the company in its next phase of growth and execution at the intersection of mobility, energy, and technology.
