Yaoundé – Dakar, June 2026. — A Luxembourg fund announces the establishment of a financing facility of 25 million euros for the benefit of Afriland First Bank Cameroon, headquartered in Yaoundé. This operation aims to strengthen the bank’s financing capabilities for the Cameroonian private sector, particularly businesses and projects with high development potential.
The transaction was facilitated by the intermediary and support of the firm Temas, based in Dakar, which played a crucial role in connecting the parties, structuring the operation, and supporting the financing process.
An operation aimed at strengthening real economy financing
This new facility is part of a dynamic mobilization of international resources in support of African economy financing. It is intended to provide Afriland First Bank with additional medium and long-term resources to further support companies operating in strategic sectors of the Cameroonian economy.
The financing can notably contribute to the development of SMEs and ETIs, agriculture and agro-industry, trade, industry, and local value chains, according to the eligibility criteria and guidelines defined within the facility.
For the fund, this operation aligns with its mission as an impact investor dedicated to the sustainable development of African value chains. The fund intervenes through financing for agri-food companies and financial institutions active in real economy financing.
Temas, an intermediary at the heart of financial convergence
One of the peculiarities of this operation lies in the role played by Temas, a firm specialized in financial advisory, structuring, and intermediation of financing operations in Africa.
In this transaction, Temas acted as the interface between the various stakeholders and contributed to developing a financing solution tailored to the needs of Afriland First Bank.
This intervention illustrates the growing role of African financial intermediation firms in connecting African financial institutions with international investors and funders.
“This operation demonstrates that structuring and intermediation work carried out from Africa can effectively connect African banks with major international sources of capital,” highlights Temas.
For the Dakar-based firm, this operation also represents an important step in the development of a regional platform aimed at facilitating the mobilization of international resources for African financial institutions and companies.
Afriland First Bank, a key player in financing the Cameroonian private sector
Based in Yaoundé, Afriland First Bank Cameroon is one of the country’s leading banks. The bank serves businesses, SMEs, individuals, and institutions, with a dedicated activity in financing the economy and businesses.
This new mobilization of resources comes at a time when access to internationally mature financing is a major challenge for African financial institutions.
Afriland First Bank has already established partnerships with international financial institutions. In April 2025, for example, the bank and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) announced a facility of up to 60 million euros, aimed at increasing financing for Cameroonian SMEs.
An operation that strengthens financial connections between West Africa and Central Africa
Beyond the financing itself, the operation highlights the increasing importance of regional financial intermediation platforms capable of bridging the financing needs of African institutions with resources available from international investors.
Temas SARL’s intervention from Dakar thus illustrates a transregional approach linking West Africa, Central Africa, and international capital markets.
For Temas SARL, this operation represents an additional reference in its positioning as a specialized financial advisory and intermediation firm focused on mobilizing capital for Africa.
