The signing that took place in New York on September 21, 2026 between the TransGuinéen Company (CTG) and the Wabtec group goes beyond mere commercial scope. This service contract, the largest ever concluded by Wabtec in Africa, brings to over 1.2 billion US dollars the cumulative commitment of this American partner alongside Guinea. It extends over more than fourteen (14) years, serving the locomotives that currently run on our double-track railway of over 650 kilometers.
This agreement confirms the excellence of economic relations between the United States of America and the Republic of Guinea. The presence of the American Government, represented by Mr. William KIMMITT, Under Secretary for International Trade, eloquently testifies to this. It is a strategic and sustainable North-South cooperation, built in a win-win spirit.
It also concretely reflects the vision of interdependence of interests promoted by His Excellency Mamadi DOUMBOUYA, President of the Republic. According to this vision, the success of our partners and the progress of the Guinean people are inseparable. On the Simandou megaproject, the sun never sets.
For the Republic of Guinea, this partnership will result, for at least the next fourteen (14) years, in concrete benefits in terms of local content: (i) guaranteed jobs; (ii) market opportunities for our businesses; (iii) the training of our compatriots as well as the transfer of skills and technologies, in the Republic of Guinea as well as in the United States.
I extend my warm congratulations to the members of the Strategic Committee of Simandou (CSS). I also congratulate the delegation of the Guinean State led to New York by Mr. Bouna SYLLA, Minister of Mines and Geology, as well as the teams of CTG, under the leadership of Mr. Mamoudou Nagnalen BARRY, Chairman of the Board. Their commitment made this decisive step possible.
Simandou is not just a mining project: it is a Nation-building project.
