Africa Specialty Risks (ASR), a group specialized in insurance and reinsurance in emerging markets, has announced the appointment of Yassine Asskour and Keith Barrett to underwriting positions. According to the company, these recruitments are part of its growth strategy to strengthen its technical capabilities and presence in African and London markets.
Based in Casablanca, Yassine Asskour joins ASR as a property insurance underwriter. He has over eight years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance sectors in Africa. Prior to joining ASR, he held the position of senior facultative non-life reinsurance underwriter for African markets at Atlantic Re. He also worked at Axa Africa, where he was involved in developing activities in several countries, including Senegal, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, and Gabon. His background also includes experience at Sanlam Morocco.
Keith Barrett, on the other hand, joins ASR in London as a marine underwriter. He will report to Aurélien Sauty, head of Aviation and Marine activities for the group. He has over forty years of experience in African insurance markets. Throughout his career, he has held various leadership roles in underwriting, including at Swiss Re Africa and Mutual & Federal, where he managed maritime risk portfolios covering several African countries.
ASR states that these appointments aim to strengthen its technical expertise in various insurance branches and support the development of its activities in African markets and other emerging markets.
