Casablanca: Africa Financial Industry Summit – AFIS 2025
Dates: November 3–4, 2025
Location: Casablanca, Morocco
Overview
The Africa Financial Industry Summit (AFIS) is a high-level annual platform dedicated to strategic dialogue and reflection on the future of Africa’s financial industry.
Each year, more than 1,000 industry leaders gather — bankers, insurers, fintech representatives, capital market operators, mobile money actors, policymakers, and regulators from Africa and beyond.
The 2025 edition will bring together 1,250 African and international financial leaders along with public decision-makers for two days of conferences, debates, and networking aimed at delivering concrete solutions to the sector’s major challenges.
Context and Challenges
The need for strategic autonomy in Africa’s financial sector is now more pressing due to:
-
Persistent trade barriers and mounting debt;
-
A global economic environment marked by highly selective international capital;
-
Ambitious projects in energy, infrastructure, and digital transformation struggling to secure adequate financing.
Mobilizing domestic capital is essential to address these challenges. Africa holds vast reserves — pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, foreign exchange reserves, banks’ and insurers’ financial assets, fintech performance — amounting to several trillion dollars. A significant share of these resources remains underutilized or flows out of the continent.
AFIS 2025 positions itself as a catalyst for transformation, aiming to:
-
Shift from a dependency model to a co-construction approach;
-
Strengthen coordination and trust between administrations and financial institutions;
-
Place African champions at the heart of a strategic framework based on sovereignty, regional leadership, and effective risk management.
