Inter-African Federation of Insurance Brokers (FIAC)
The Inter-African Federation of Insurance Brokers (FIAC) was established on September 13, 2005, in Bamako. The FIAC was created to address a gap in the institutional framework of our CIMA community zone, specifically the national insurance brokers that emerged from the significant restructuring of the CIMA markets in the early 1990s. The FIAC is headquartered in Bamako, at Hamdallaye ACI 2000, office 103 of the Private Sector Center (CSP). It comprises 14 associations and federations of brokers from CIMA member countries (14 countries) and two associated markets (observer countries).
The member countries are:
Benin
Burkina Faso
Cameroon
Congo Brazzaville
Côte d’Ivoire
Gabon
Ghana
Guinea Conakry
Equatorial Guinea
Mali
Niger
Central African Republic
Senegal
Chad
Togo
The Federation aims, either directly or in collaboration with public authorities and all professional and inter-professional organizations, to study, adopt, and implement all measures likely to promote the development of insurance. It contributes to the material and moral improvement, prestige, and defense of insurance and reinsurance brokerage, both nationally and internationally. In this regard, it is specifically responsible for:
Assisting public authorities and CIMA in defending the interests of insured parties and insurance contract beneficiaries;
Ensuring the dissemination and promotion of the insurance broker profession;
Ensuring compliance with professional standards;
Defending the rights and interests of its members;
Facilitating business exchanges, experiences, and information on legal, fiscal, economic, financial, and other issues among its members;
Alerting its members to general problems that arise in one or more countries and that seem to warrant study in the common interest of the companies and firms.
