On the occasion of the 26th anniversary of his accession to the throne, King Mohammed VI delivered a speech on July 29, 2025, focusing on the economic, social, and diplomatic progress of the Kingdom, while calling for a more balanced territorial development.
The sovereign highlighted Morocco’s entry into the category of countries with “high human development”, citing the decrease in multidimensional poverty from 11.9% in 2014 to 6.8% in 2024, and the advancement of macroeconomic indicators despite a challenging global context. Morocco, he emphasized, maintains sustained growth, with an industrial revival marked by increased exports in the automotive, aerospace, and renewable energy sectors.
The speech emphasized the need for a new cycle of development based on territorial inclusion. A call was made to the government to develop a new generation of regional development programs focused on employment, basic social services, sustainable water management, and the integration of territories into major national projects.
On the institutional level, Mohammed VI requested the adoption of the new General Electoral Code before the end of 2025, in preparation for the upcoming legislative elections.
On the diplomatic front, the sovereign reiterated his call for dialogue with Algeria and praised international support for the Moroccan proposal for autonomy in the Sahara, particularly from the United Kingdom and Portugal.
Finally, he paid tribute to the security forces and historical figures of the Kingdom, concluding with a Quranic invocation emphasizing stability and peace as pillars of the nation.
