Nouakchott: Senegal–Mauritania Friendship Week
Nouakchott to Host the Senegal–Mauritania Friendship Week from July 23 to August 1, 2026
At the initiative of the Senegal–Mauritania Friendship Association, chaired by Dr. Mavelout Dieng, the city of Nouakchott will host, from July 23 to August 1, 2026, the Senegal–Mauritania Friendship Week, an event aimed at strengthening the historical, cultural, and fraternal ties between the peoples of both countries.
Held under the theme of peace, solidarity, and integration, this week of gatherings comes at a time marked by the strengthening of relations between Senegal and Mauritania, two nations united by history, geography, and culture, particularly around the Senegal River, a true link between the two peoples.
The event will bring together nearly 700 participants from Senegal and will include a peace march, several panel discussions on regional integration, the environment, natural resources, and the Senegal Vision 2050, as well as numerous cultural, sporting, and artistic activities.
The week will conclude with a gala dinner, the proceeds of which will support the construction of the Senegalese School in Nouakchott and the creation of a digital media library for the Senegal–Mauritania Friendship Association.
The organizing committee will officially present the event on March 26 at Place du Souvenir in Dakar and will be established in Nouakchott in April 2026. Activities will take place at the Amicale Village, which will be open to the public upon online registration.
