The tourism sector continues to grow in the early months of 2026 in Morocco with over 1.3 million arrivals in January, representing a 3% increase compared to the same period last year. According to the Directorate of Studies and Financial Forecasts (DEPF), this growth is supported by the influx of international visitors from several countries, including France (+14%), Poland (+40%), Italy (+6%), United States (+15%), Belgium (+5%), and Canada (+10%).
Overnight stays in classified accommodation establishments also saw a significant increase of 12% by the end of January. This is mainly due to the organization of the 2025 CAN in Morocco and the appeal of the country’s various destinations. This trend shows that tourists are extending their stays and favoring quality hotel structures.
The most visited destinations experienced significant growth: Casablanca (+36%), Rabat (+42%), Tangier (+31%), Ouarzazate (+35%), Errachidia (+29%), Agadir (+11%), Marrakech (+7%), Fes (+10%), and Essaouira (+7%). These figures highlight the popularity of these cities and their key role in the country’s tourism economy.
Tourism-related revenues have strengthened, reaching 11.7 billion dirhams (over one billion dollars) in January 2026, compared to 9.8 billion dirhams (970 million USD) a year earlier, representing an increase of 19.3%. This growth reflects both the increase in the number of visitors and the growth of tourist spending in different destinations.
