Annabelle Buzingo represents a generation of women leaders who shape development financing with excellence, vision, and determination, and contribute to transforming African risk into sustainable opportunities. Her technical expertise, the rigor of her analysis, her determination to have a lasting impact are essential in the realization of major development projects in Africa.
Since January 2019, Annabelle Buzingo has held the position of Senior Underwriter for Political and Credit Risks at ATIDI, the Insurance for Trade and Investment Development in Africa. In this role, she structures, analyzes, and underwrites complex transactions across multiple African markets. Her role is to secure strategic financing, mitigate sovereign and commercial risks, and facilitate the mobilization of capital for development.
In her mission, Annabelle has contributed to numerous transformative projects, including: the BITA project, which provides access to clean and affordable water to nearly two million people in Luanda, Angola. Also to her credit, Deutsche Bank’s 507.5 million euro loan to the Republic of Benin to strengthen the country’s budget resilience and support investments aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); the non-sovereign loan portfolio coverage of the West African Development Bank (BOAD) aimed at supporting key economic sectors such as energy, industries, and transportation in various countries in West Africa, and finally, most recently, in December 2025, a sustainable multi-currency loan facility of 570 million euros, with a maturity of 15 years, mobilized by the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire.
Annabelle also coordinates the “Japan desk” as part of the strategic partnership with NEXI, the Japanese export credit agency, which aims to catalyze Japanese investments across the continent. With nearly 15 years of international experience in the banking and credit insurance sectors, Annabelle Buzingo has worked in France, Belgium, the United States, and Canada before settling in Kenya. Her professional background has led her to prominent financial institutions such as Société Générale Corporate & Investment Banking (SG CIB), Coface Canada, and Export Development Canada (EDC), where she has consolidated her expertise in risk management and structuring.
