The 7th edition of the Financial Afrik Awards (FAA) is taking place in Banjul on January 22 and 23, 2026, and will be inaugurated by His Excellency Adama Barrow, President of the Republic of The Gambia. This pan-African reference event brings together public decision-makers, investors, leaders of financial institutions, business executives, and experts to discuss the major challenges of financing development in Africa.
Under the theme “Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) as an Alternative to Public Debt”, this edition takes place in a continental context marked by shrinking budget margins, rising interest rates, and the need to finance essential infrastructure without excessively burdening sovereign balance sheets. The Financial Afrik Awards provide a space for strategic reflection focused on concrete, bankable, and sustainable solutions at the heart of African priorities.
Since their creation, The Financial Afrik Awards have established themselves as a forum of ideas as well as a ceremony of distinction, dedicated to celebrating African successes and promoting the private sector as a driver of economic transformation. Over the editions, the event has evolved to become a structuring dialogue venue on alternatives to the limits of the traditional development financing model.
Following a decisive stage in Abidjan, marked by a natural opening towards the Arab world, the Banjul edition highlights this dynamic through a strategic focus on Africa-Arab World relations. A high-level roundtable will bring together key figures from finance, energy, infrastructure, and Islamic finance, illustrating the growing influence of an Afro-Arab axis based on the complementarity of capital, markets, and development ambitions.
Beyond the central theme of PPPs, the discussions will also showcase “Invest in The Gambia”, presenting investment opportunities, structuring projects, and ready-to-deploy public-private partnerships, confirming The Gambia as a credible investment and service platform in West Africa.
The highlight of the event, the Financial Afrik Awards Gala Evening will honor “the 100 personalities transforming Africa”, celebrating excellence, innovation, and financial influence on the continent.
By combining strategic vision, high-level dialogue, and recognition of African talent, the 7th edition of the Financial Afrik Awards confirms its ambition: to think and promote a new model of financing African development, based on strong, balanced, and economically sovereign partnerships.
