London, December 5 – Rawbank, a leading bank in the Democratic Republic of Congo, has been elected Bank of the Year 2025 in DRC by The Banker, a publication of the Financial Times group and a global reference in the banking sector. This distinction, awarded to a single institution per country, rewards banks that stand out for the strength of their model, the consistency of their strategy, and their measurable contribution to the development of their economy.
A prize awarded through rigorous and independent evaluation
The “Bank of the Year” award distinguishes institutions that, during the evaluated period, have demonstrated robust performance, strengthened governance, tangible innovation capacity, and a real impact on the real economy. The editorial team of the Financial Times relies on the analysis of financial results, recent strategic initiatives, technological advances, the development of new services, and the progressive integration of environmental, social, and governance issues to determine the most deserving bank in each country.
A distinction based on major advances in 2025
In 2025, The Banker selected Rawbank due to the progression of its results, the advancement of its transformation program, and its role in financing structuring projects for the Congolese economy. The bank strengthened its financial strength between 2022 and 2024, embarked on a new strategic dynamic illustrated by its rebranding in April 2025, and structured an international syndicated financing of $400 million for the expansion of the Kamoa-Kakula project, contributing both to the positioning of the DRC in the global copper market and to the strengthening of its energy capacities.
“This distinction rewards the remarkable work of our teams and the renewed confidence of our clients. Being designated Bank of the Year by The Banker confirms the relevance of our strategy and strengthens our ambition to contribute to a more modern, inclusive, and efficient financial sector in the Democratic Republic of Congo,” said Mustafa Rawji, CEO of Rawbank.
An international recognition that follows the awards received in 2025
This award adds to several major distinctions obtained this year, including the title of “Best Bank in the DRC” at the Euromoney Awards 2025, the “World’s Safest Banks 2025” recognition awarded by Global Finance magazine, as well as Rawbank’s presence among the “300 African Finance Champions” by Jeune Afrique media.
