Conakry, July 30, 2025 – Thiam & Associates advised Hillside Triumph as the sole advisor in its majority acquisition of the capital of LafargeHolcim Guinea, a leading cement producer in the Republic of Guinea. Following this strategic transaction, the company changes its name to Ciments de Guinée S.A., a name that reaffirms its national roots and historical presence in the local economy.
This operation concerns one of the most successful assets of the LafargeHolcim group in West Africa. In a context marked by the growth of the mining sector and infrastructure in Guinea, this takeover paves the way for the strengthening of the existing industrial apparatus – considered the most modern in the local market – as well as the development of two new cement plants, along with prefabrication units, in the Conakry and Upper Guinea regions.
Based in London, Hillside Triumph is a British investment company specializing in high-growth sectors in emerging markets, including telecommunications, mining services, transportation, logistics, digital services, and real estate. The company is known for its approach focused on structuring projects with strong economic and social impact.
Thiam & Associates intervened at each key stage of the operation: legal and financial structuring, audit, drafting and negotiation of contractual documentation, regulatory compliance, and financing structuring. The multidisciplinary team was led by Baba Hady Thiam (partner), with the support of Binta Maïga (counsel), Abdourahim Bodeen Diallo (senior associate), as well as Ismaël Traoré, Saran Kaba, Stéphanie Manguélé, Amadou Mbodj, and Mamadou Billo Barry.
Hillside Triumph was also supported by Optimum Group Africa as the exclusive agent, and by PwC for tax and financial aspects. On the other hand, LafargeHolcim was represented by the A&O Shearman law firm.
