The international hotel group IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a franchise agreement with the developer Senegindia SA for the opening of a Holiday Inn in SD City Dakar, in the urban hub of Diamniadio.
The 150-room property, scheduled to open in 2027, will be managed by Valor Hospitality Partners, a specialist in hotel management.
This project is part of a total investment estimated at 540 million rands (29 million USD), covering two new properties franchised by IHG: the Holiday Inn SD City Dakar in Senegal and a Crowne Plaza in Lagos, Nigeria.
“Senegal is a key market for our strategic growth in Africa. The economic environment and infrastructure investments make it an attractive destination for business and leisure travelers,” said Haitham Mattar, MD of IHG Hotels & Resorts for the IMEA region.
This initiative marks Valor’s entry into the West African market, strengthening its presence on the continent, already active in Central, Eastern, and Southern Africa.
With this development, IHG strengthens its African portfolio, which currently includes 12 Holiday Inn properties. The group has also announced the expansion of the InterContinental brand in Southern Africa with a project in Cape Town.
For Senegindia, the arrival of an international brand contributes to the ambition of making SD City a modern and connected urban destination, to stimulate the national hotel sector.
