At the end of the 2024 fiscal year, the after-tax profit of the Société de Caoutchouc de Grand Béréby (SOGB), a subsidiary of SFCA (Société Immobilière et Financière de la Côte Africaine), an Ivorian agro-industrial group operating in oilseeds, sugar, and rubber, recorded a significant increase of 149% compared to 2023, announced the leaders of this company based in San Pedro, the second economic region of Côte d’Ivoire located in the southwest of the country.
According to the financial statements certified by the company’s auditors, this profit amounted to 13.110 billion CFA francs (23.599 million dollars) compared to 5.270 billion CFA francs (9.486 million dollars) as of December 31, 2023.
During the period under review, sales of manufactured products increased by 22% to 87.254 billion CFA francs compared to 71.813 billion CFA francs in 2023. The leaders of SOGB attribute this increase mainly to “the increase in rubber sales prices (+29%) and palm kernel oil (+14%) on one hand, and the increase in quantities sold for rubber (+2%) and palm oil (+1%) and palm kernel oil (+40%) on the other hand.” As for works and services rendered, they amounted to 1.225 billion CFA francs compared to 1.201 billion CFA francs in 2023. Other income increased from 895 million CFA francs in 2023 to 1.179 billion CFA francs in 2024. In total, SOGB’s income increased from 15.621 billion CFA francs to 93.520 billion CFA francs compared to 77.899 billion CFA francs at the end of the 2023 fiscal year.
On the expenses side, raw material purchases and stock variations increased by 4.884 billion CFA francs, rising from 19.829 billion CFA francs in 2023 to 24.712 billion CFA francs a year later. According to the SOGB officials, this variation is mainly due to the increase in the purchase price of coagulum from village planters (+30%). Other purchases were reduced by 54 million, amounting to 13.196 billion CFA francs compared to 13.250 billion CFA francs in 2023. Transport costs increased by 7.537 million, amounting to 508.105 million CFA francs compared to 500.568 million CFA francs in 2023. The same upward trend is noted in external services, which amounted to 8.379 billion CFA francs compared to 8.047 billion CFA francs in 2023 (+332 million). At the end of the fiscal year under review, SOGB’s total expenses increased by 12.14% to 50.772 billion compared to 45.275 billion in 2023.
SOGB’s value added increased by 31.03% to 42.748 billion CFA francs compared to 32.623 billion CFA francs as of December 31, 2023.
As for personnel expenses, they amounted to 17.773 billion CFA francs compared to 17.233 billion CFA francs a year earlier (+540 million).
Regarding gross operating surplus, it amounted to 24.974 billion CFA francs compared to 15.389 billion CFA francs in 2023, representing a 62.28% increase.
A 139.42% increase was noted in the operating result, which stood at 18.383 billion CFA francs compared to 7.678 billion CFA francs as of December 31, 2023.
Similarly, ordinary activities result increased from 7.380 billion CFA francs in 2023 to 18.040 billion CFA francs during the period under review.
