The new Moroccan government is officially formed. Appointed at the head of the executive by King Mohammed VI, Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri saw her team take shape following political consultations initiated after the legislative elections of September 23, 2026. The ceremony for the appointment of government members took place on October 16, 2026 at the Royal Palace of Rabat.<\/p>\n

Politically, the new majority brings together four parties: the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), Istiqlal, the Socialist Union of Popular Forces (USFP), and the Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS). This coalition, which totals 207 seats out of the 395 in the House of Representatives, marks a shift from the previous legislature, with the departure of the National Rally of Independents (RNI), which led the government under Aziz Akhannouch.<\/p>\n

Reappointed figures, new faces in charge<\/p>\n

The composition of the new executive shows a balance between institutional continuity and renewal. Several officials retain their positions, including Abdelouafi Laftit at the Interior, Nasser Bourita at Foreign Affairs, and Abdellatif Ouahbi at Justice. Nizar Baraka also remains at the helm of the Department of Equipment and Water, while Ryad Mezzour retains the portfolio of Industry and Commerce. This continuity concerns strategic sectors for institutional stability, foreign relations, and economic development.<\/p>\n

However, the most notable change concerns the Ministry of Economy and Finance, entrusted to Fouzi Lekjaa. Previously Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget, the president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation now heads a central department in the implementation of public policies. His appointment comes as the Kingdom must continue its investments in infrastructure, prepare for the 2030 World Cup, and meet expectations in terms of employment, purchasing power, and public services.<\/p>\n

The team also includes new officials in several ministerial departments, including National Education, Health, Agriculture, and Energy Transition. These changes reflect a reorganization of responsibilities within the government apparatus, as issues of food sovereignty, human capital, and industrial competitiveness play an increasingly important role in the country’s economic agenda.<\/p>\n

An executive expected to deliver economic results<\/p>\n

Beyond the appointments, the main challenge now lies in the ability of the new executive to translate its orientations into results. The government must support investment dynamics, strengthen the productive capacities of the economy, and improve household living conditions. The preparation of major projects related to the 2030 deadline is also a major task, with expected impacts on infrastructure, tourism, transportation, and services.<\/p>\n

The new majority has expressed its ambition to strengthen good governance, social justice, and territorial equity, while enhancing the national productive apparatus. The key now is to translate these objectives into a coherent government program, with budgetary priorities and evaluation mechanisms.<\/p>\n

For Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri, the first woman to lead the Moroccan government, the challenge is twofold: to establish a new political dynamic and provide concrete answers to economic and social challenges. The composition of the team is a first step. Its ability to produce measurable results will be crucial for the remainder of the mandate.<\/p>\n
