His Majesty King Mohammed VI received, on Tuesday at the Royal Palace in Rabat, Mrs. Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri, coordinator of the collegiate leadership of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), whom He appointed as Prime Minister and tasked with forming the new executive, according to a statement from the Ministry of the Royal Household, Protocol and Chancellery.<\/p>\n

This appointment marks a turning point in Moroccan political life: Mrs. El Mansouri becomes the first woman to be called upon to lead the government of the Kingdom of Morocco.<\/p>\n

A lawyer by training, former mayor of Marrakech and until now Minister of National Territorial Planning, Urbanism, Housing and City Policy, Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri also serves as coordinator of the collegiate leadership of the PAM.<\/p>\n

Her first mission will be to conduct political consultations in order to form a new government team in accordance with constitutional provisions.<\/p>\n

This appointment comes in the wake of developments in the Moroccan political scene and opens a new institutional sequence marked by the arrival of a woman at the head of the Executive.<\/p>\n
