By the end of July 2026, sales of new vehicles reached 152,486 units, compared to 131,739 a year earlier, representing a 15.7% increase, according to statistics published by the Association of Vehicle Importers in Morocco (AIVAM).

In July alone, 20,738 vehicles were registered, up 5.2% from the 19,713 units recorded in the same period in 2025. While the market remains on an upward trend, its growth rate has slowed down after the strong 16.7% increase observed in June.

In detail, sales of passenger cars (PC) increased by 2.1% in July to reach 18,085 units. Light commercial vehicles (LCV), on the other hand, showed a much more significant growth of 32.3%, with 2,653 units sold.

In the first seven months of the year, registrations of passenger cars totaled 134,887 units, up 15.3%, while sales of light commercial vehicles reached 17,599 units, up 19.5%. Passenger cars thus represent 88.5% of the market, compared to 11.5% for LCVs.

Electric vehicles continue to thrive

The segment of electrified vehicles continues to gain importance in the Moroccan market. By the end of July 2026, 22,963 electrified vehicles were registered, an 86.3% increase from the previous year. Their share in passenger car sales now stands at 17%, compared to 10.5% in the same period in 2025, a gain of 6.5 percentage points.

This growth is driven in particular by plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV), sales of which have surged by 145% to reach 7,131 units. Mild hybrid electric vehicles (MHEV) also recorded a strong growth of 70.4%, with 4,000 registrations.

The market for 100% electric vehicles (BEV) is also continuing to develop. Sales have nearly doubled in a year, reaching 1,213 units, a 99.2% increase. In addition, there are 1,402 range-extended electric vehicles (REEV). Together, BEV and REEV categories now represent 1.9% of passenger car sales.

Chinese manufacturers strengthen their presence

The increasing presence of Chinese brands is also confirmed. The 21 manufacturers present in the Moroccan market sold 15,161 passenger cars between January and July 2026, a 151.8% increase compared to the same period the previous year.

Their market share now stands at 11.2%, compared to only 5.1% a year earlier, illustrating their rapid breakthrough in the national market.

In July, Chinese brands sold 2,013 vehicles, up 62% from the 1,243 units sold in July 2025.

This momentum follows the excellent performances recorded in 2025, a year in which the Moroccan automotive market reached a record level of 235,372 registrations, up 33.4% from 2024.

The Moroccan automotive market continues its growth momentum.
