Mobility, delivery, mapping, logistics, and artificial intelligence: these uses now structure part of the competitiveness of the continent’s metropolises.

It is in this context that Yango Group organized its Innovation Day 2026 on June 4 in Abidjan, bringing together more than 200 business leaders, entrepreneurs, public decision-makers, and technology experts. The event allowed the group to present its technologies, but also to highlight new local initiatives around entrepreneurship, employment, SMEs, and digital skills training.

Digital services driven by urbanization and mobile usage

Yango’s offensive comes as digital services are gradually establishing themselves as economic infrastructures. According to the GSMA, mobile technologies and services generated $220 billion in economic value in Africa in 2024. A 2020 IFC/Google report also estimated that the African Internet economy could reach $180 billion in 2025, driven by the growth of digital uses, mobile access, and the rise of local technological ecosystems.

For Yango, the challenge is to show that technology is no longer limited to improving existing services. “Technology is not limited to making existing systems more efficient. It can create new opportunities in terms of employment, entrepreneurship, and economic growth,” said Adeniyi Adebayo, Chief Business Officer of Yango Group.

In Abidjan, the group presented several solutions already used in its international markets: route optimization, traffic forecasting through artificial intelligence, mapping and navigation tools, autonomous delivery robots, and Yasmina, its AI assistant. The message is clear: globally developed technologies can be adapted to the specific needs of African cities.

SMEs and talents: the bet of the local ecosystem

Beyond technological demonstrations, Yango Innovation Day mainly allowed the group to clarify its positioning in Côte d’Ivoire. One of the most structuring signals is the signing of a memorandum of understanding with GUDE-PME, the Ivorian public agency dedicated to the development of small and medium enterprises.

The agreement targets SMEs active in mobility and logistics, two segments expected to professionalize rapidly with the growth of digital services. The objective is to support these companies in formalizing their activities, accessing financing, strengthening their operational capacities, and gradually integrating them into the digital economy.

For Yango, this approach allows them to go beyond the platform logic and become part of structuring a local ecosystem. Fleet operators, delivery companies, mobility entrepreneurs: these actors can become the primary beneficiaries of the growth of digital urban services, provided they have a more formal framework, appropriate financing, and strengthened operational skills.

The event also highlighted the issue of skills. Twenty young people received their diplomas at the end of the first cohort of the Yango Fellowship 2025 program in Côte d’Ivoire. Participants received certificates, laptops, and financial support to accompany the rest of their training.

An Ivorian anchorage beyond mobility

Yango Group also took advantage of the event to announce the upcoming launch of a premium Yango Food service in Côte d’Ivoire. This new offer is intended to enrich the customer experience and strengthen the group’s presence in the local digital services market.

Present in more than 30 countries in Africa, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, Yango now seeks to adapt its technologies to the needs of each market. In Côte d’Ivoire, the challenge is to transform innovation into concrete uses: better organize mobility, streamline delivery, support SMEs, train talents, and expand access to digital services.

As African cities expand, digital urban services are becoming a major economic issue.
