After a sequence marked by uncertainty and speculation, Veron Mosengo-Omba finally officially announced his candidacy for the presidency of the Congolese Football Federation (Fecofa) on Tuesday evening, putting an end to several hours of waiting in the Congolese football world.<\/p>\n

A prominent figure in African football and former executive director of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), he had been raising expectations for several weeks about a possible entry into the race. His candidacy is seen as likely to bring a new dynamic to the federation, particularly in terms of governance and structural development.<\/p>\n

Speaking at a press conference shortly after officially submitting his application at the Fecofa headquarters, Veron Mosengo-Omba expressed his ambition to work towards unity and the revival of football in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He also mentioned his desire to modernize the institution, improve infrastructure, strengthen the competitiveness of the national team, and position football as a driver of the sports economy.<\/p>\n

This candidacy comes at a time of persistent challenges, particularly in terms of governance and management. The upcoming election, scheduled in the coming weeks, could thus be a turning point for Congolese football, with the potential emergence of a new leadership.<\/p>\n
