The South African digital bank TymeBank has officially changed its name to GoTyme Bank, according to a notification published on Monday, April 13 by the South African Reserve Bank, finalizing a change initiated at the end of 2025.<\/p>\n

Beyond a simple rebranding, this evolution aims, according to the bank, to align the South African operations of the group with its identity used in Southeast Asia, particularly in the Philippines, Indonesia, and Vietnam.<\/p>\n

The group claims to have more than 15 million customers in total, including more than 10 million in South Africa. Launched in 2019, the bank surpassed the milestone of 5 million customers in 2022, and then reached 10 million in 2024, according to its data.<\/p>\n

TymeBank indicates that it achieved profitability in December 2023, less than five years after its launch, a rare performance in the neobanking sector, where less than 5% of players are profitable globally.<\/p>\n

Financially, the group had an annualized revenue of over $200 million in 2023, while its South African entity had reached a pace of around $95 million in revenue before becoming profitable.<\/p>\n

Supported by a $250 million fundraising in 2024, the group reached a valuation of approximately $1.5 billion, attaining unicorn status.<\/p>\n
