Between mass education through the “Assurance C’Simple” campaign and digital acceleration driven by the MySUNU application, she is redefining the standards of proximity and trust. With a sharp expertise in actuarial science and management, she aims to reconcile sustainable growth, financial inclusion, and technical rigor in a rapidly changing competitive environment.

You took over the leadership of the two subsidiaries of SUNU Assurances in Guinea in April 2025. What is your three-year strategic roadmap to accelerate the penetration of insurance in a still immature market?

Guinea remains a relatively immature insurance market, with low penetration rates, a lack of insurance culture, and processes still perceived as complex. The vision for SUNU Assurances in Guinea is therefore to overcome these barriers by working on three pillars: Simplicity, Accessibility, and Trust. In this context, we have launched the “Assurance C’Simple” (ACS for short) campaign, which allows us to directly approach the Guinean population to explain insurance in a concrete and educational way.

At the same time, we are simplifying our processes, clarifying our offers, strengthening our presence on the ground, while improving transparency and processing times. Our goal is to make insurance more approachable, accessible, understandable, and credible to support Guinea’s growth and sustainable development.

The launch of the MySUNU application marks a digital turning point for the sector in Guinea. How can digital transformation concretely strengthen policyholders’ trust and improve operational performance?

Digitalization is not just a technological evolution; it is a crucial lever to transform the relationship with policyholders and improve the sector’s reliability. On November 12, 2025, SUNU Assurances Guinea launched MySUNU, the market’s first 100% digital application, allowing policyholders to subscribe, pay their premiums, link their contracts from both companies (Life and Non-Life), and also pay the premiums for their Life contracts. This level of autonomy enhances trust, as the client can verify the progress of their procedures themselves, without intermediaries or travel. A real change in a market where transparency and timeliness are strong expectations.

For the teams, digitalization provides better traceability of operations, reduces administrative errors, and allows for faster and more structured handling of requests. Combined with the short number 8110, which centralizes information and assistance, it becomes a real performance accelerator, making insurance simpler, more responsive, and more accessible to a wide audience, including in areas where access to agencies remains limited.

The Guinean market still faces a lack of insurance culture. What initiatives do you plan to deploy to develop financial education and make insurance products more understandable and attractive?

The primary barrier in the Guinean market is not the offering, but the understanding of products and the need to protect against risks, especially the insurers’ commitment to compensate for losses. Our priority actions are focused on three major axes:

1.Financial education: popularize the benefits of insurance through educational campaigns, simple and adapted to local realities.

2.Field proximity: increase information sessions, especially in areas where access to information is more limited.

3.Simplified offers: clarify the discourse, make products more understandable, and better oriented towards the daily needs of households and businesses. We aim to develop insurance culture as a long-term investment, essential for trust, financial inclusion, and Guinea’s development.

The issue of claims settlement delays is central to the sector’s credibility. What managerial and organizational levers are you activating to place the customer experience at the heart of the process?

Claims settlement is the central point of trust. We have initiated a transformation project around three levers:

• Reviewing internal processes to improve fluidity and reduce delays, • Strengthening team accountability through clearer organization and more efficient monitoring tools,

• Digitalizing critical steps to offer complete traceability to the client, from reporting to reimbursement. The client must be able to rely on us. That is why we focus on evidence-based actions: a commitment kept is worth more than any speech.

As a leader with a strong background in statistics and management, how does your expertise in actuarial science and strategy influence your approach to driving growth and profitability in a competitive and evolving environment?

My expertise in actuarial science allows me to address development issues with rigor, method, and analytical thinking. In a sector where risk management and technical balance are essential, this skill is an asset to reconcile growth and sustainability. My management training complements this vision by enhancing my ability to lead teams, structure transformation projects, and drive change in a rapidly evolving environment. In a competitive and still developing market, this allows me to make data-driven decisions while maintaining a strong customer focus and a hands-on approach.

“Simplicity, Accessibility, and Trust: the three pillars of SUNU’s roadmap in Guinea” Heading the two subsidiaries of SUNU Assurances in Guinea since April 2025, Mariame Bah Barry, General Manager of SUNU Assurances in Guinea, is driving a transformative change in a still immature market.
