Abidjan, February 11, 2026. On the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of FANAF, the gala evening organized at the Sofitel Hotel Ivoire served as the setting for the presentation of the FANAF Special Insurance Trophies. Supported by Atlantic Re and 225assurances.com (part of the 212assurances.com group), this distinction highlighted six emblematic initiatives, illustrating the upscale and transformation of the African insurance sector. In front of a full audience of regulators, leaders of pan-African groups, and technical partners, the ceremony took place in the presence of Mamadou K. G. Kon\u00e9, the new president of FANAF, G\u00e9rard Ballo, Secretary General of ASACI, and Fran\u00e7ois Olivier Edime, president of the Insurance Trophies in Africa and the 212assurances group.<\/p>\n

The winners: a mosaic of disruptive innovations<\/p>\n

The 2026 awards reflect the diversity of markets and models, in a context where insurance penetration remains low on the continent, but where innovation is emerging as a strategic lever.<\/p>\n

– Atlantique Assurances Vie CI won the Innovation Life Health Retirement Trophy for Health Retirement Savings, a hybrid product combining long-term savings and health coverage. Designed to support the growth of the Ivorian middle class, it meets the dual requirement of protection and capital accumulation.
\n– La G\u00e9n\u00e9rale des Assurances du B\u00e9nin was awarded in Digital Innovation for Gab e-constat, an electronic platform for establishing amicable statements. This platform aims to speed up compensation and reduce disputes, while digitizing the insurer-insured relationship.
\n– NSIA C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire stood out in Customer Service Innovation with NSIA Auto Cash, an instant payment system for car claims via mobile money. A significant advancement in a market where the speed of compensation determines trust.
\n– Raynal Assurances Burkina Faso won the Innovation Inclusive Solution Trophy for Mobile Insurance, a micro-insurance offer accessible via USSD, targeting rural and informal sector populations. Commercial teams travel with a tablet and solar printer, allowing for immediate subscription and contract issuance on the field.
\n– SAAR Assurances C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire was rewarded for Participative Innovation with Saar Takaful, the first 100% inclusive digital Takaful offer in C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire, integrating Islamic principles and a community approach in a modernized model.
\n– Africa First Assist completed the awards with the Innovation Assistance Trophy for Wallet, a 24\/7 digital assistance wallet covering breakdown assistance, medical assistance, and repatriation.<\/p>\n

A pan-African jury, a strategic signal<\/p>\n

Selected by a pan-African jury, the winners illustrate the vitality of diverse ecosystems – C\u00f4te d’Ivoire, Benin, Burkina Faso – and confirm the emergence of a changing sector. Digitalization of processes, micro-insurance, Islamic finance, integrated assistance services: the awarded innovations reflect a common desire to bring insurance closer to the real needs of the populations.<\/p>\n

In addition to the 50th General Assembly of FANAF, these Trophies also honored ASACI with an off-jury Trophy, recognizing the reforms and initiatives undertaken for the benefit of Ivorian policyholders in the past year.<\/p>\n

At a time when the African sector is seeking to increase its contribution to economic financing and strengthen insurance culture, this special FANAF 2026 edition appears as a marker: that of a continental insurance industry which, despite persistent structural challenges, makes innovation its main driver of transformation.<\/p>\n
