{"id":485712,"date":"2025-10-10T14:50:18","date_gmt":"2025-10-10T14:50:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.financialafrik.com\/en\/2025\/10\/10\/roundtable-on-the-financing-of-the-senegal-green-energy-fund-fonsis-launches-an-accelerator-for-energy-transition\/"},"modified":"2025-10-10T14:50:27","modified_gmt":"2025-10-10T14:50:27","slug":"roundtable-on-the-financing-of-the-senegal-green-energy-fund-fonsis-launches-an-accelerator-for-energy-transition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.financialafrik.com\/en\/2025\/10\/10\/roundtable-on-the-financing-of-the-senegal-green-energy-fund-fonsis-launches-an-accelerator-for-energy-transition\/","title":{"rendered":"Roundtable on the financing of the Senegal Green Energy Fund: FONSIS launches an accelerator for energy transition"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"pdfprnt-buttons pdfprnt-buttons-post pdfprnt-top-bottom-left\"><\/div><p>Dakar, October 9, 2025 &#8211; On the sidelines of the Invest in Senegal Forum and under the chairmanship of Mr. Birame Souleye Diop, Minister of Energy, Petroleum and Mines, the Sovereign Strategic Investment Fund of Senegal (FONSIS) held a roundtable on the financing of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund (REEF), a major lever for financing the energy transition.<br \/>\nDeveloped by FONSIS in collaboration with the Africa Climate Foundation (ACF) and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), the Senegal Green Energy Fund aims to catalyze private sector investments in support of green growth and energy sovereignty of Senegal and the UEMOA region.<br \/>\nWith a target size of 135 billion FCFA, the Senegal Green Energy Fund will invest in equity in renewable energy and energy efficiency projects led by Senegalese and regional private companies.<br \/>\nThe roundtable brought together a wide range of donors, including the African Development Bank, the World Bank, IFC, Bloomberg Climate Works, the West African Development Bank (BOAD), as well as international partners such as the European Union, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and Canada. All these actors have praised the relevance of the Senegal Green Energy Fund and have shown interest in supporting the deployment of this local climate finance vehicle.<br \/>\nMr. Birame Souleye Diop, Minister of Energy, Petroleum and Mines, praised the initiative: &#8220;The Senegal Green Energy Fund reflects the Government&#8217;s commitment to create an enabling environment for mobilizing sustainable financing.
