From July 7 to 8, 2025, Libreville hosted the Gabon Economic Forum, a high-level meeting initiated by the Ministry of Economy and Finance, bringing together public and private stakeholders to chart a path for a new development model that is ambitious, inclusive, and sustainable.<\/p>\n

This strategic forum focused on three major areas: enhancing priority sectors, local resource transformation, and a profound reform of public finances. Participants formulated concrete and bold recommendations to build a resilient and competitive economy.<\/p>\n

Key proposed measures include:
\n– Adoption of a structured sectoral strategy around agriculture, forests, mining, digital, and tourism;
\n– Economic transparency through regular publication of reliable data;
\n– Revision of the public procurement code to boost local production and direct investments towards high-impact projects.<\/p>\n

The goal is clear and acknowledged: achieve economic growth of at least 10% per year to address a rising population (+2.7% per year), contain inflation, and generate resources for education, health, infrastructure, employment, and poverty reduction.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Economy, Henri-Claude Oyima, emphasized that this goal is not an option, but a vital necessity. To achieve it, systemic reforms are necessary: formalization of the informal sector, national industrialization, performance-oriented budget discipline, and a thorough reform of public administration.<\/p>\n

To ensure follow-up on commitments, Henri-Claude Oyima announced three strong decisions:
\n– Publication of a summary of the work and a priority action plan;
\n– Establishment of a permanent monitoring and evaluation mechanism, with an annual review;
\n– Institutionalization of the Gabon Economic Forum as an annual strategic event, held before the budget law vote.<\/p>\n

Gabon is resolutely committed to its transformation. The time for action has come.<\/p>\n
