Rabat, June 19, 2025 – Morocco Telecom is undergoing a transformation. The telecommunications giant has decided to break away from its dual governance model (Management Board and Supervisory Board) to adopt a unified structure centered around a Board of Directors. Officially, the stated objective is clear: “to strengthen the strategic coherence and decision-making efficiency of the Group.” In reality, this shift raises more questions than it answers.<\/p>\n

The newly formed Board of Directors is nothing more than a recycling of the old Supervisory Board. All its members are being reappointed, seemingly to better lock in the internal power balances. Behind this change, one man remains in control: Mohamed Bencha\u00e2boun. Already President of the Management Board, he now becomes the CEO.<\/p>\n

The Group’s statement mentions alignment with “best international practices.” But in the absence of real renewal of the bodies, this reform appears more like a makeover than a complete overhaul.<\/p>\n

Morocco Telecom is facing an increasingly complex competitive environment, at a time when OTT operators, 5G, digital inclusion issues, and regional regulation are disrupting traditional models. Will the modernized governance be able to meet these challenges, or is it a maneuver to strengthen the influence of the leadership circles without questioning the fundamentals?<\/p>\n
