{"id":476474,"date":"2022-09-29T09:08:03","date_gmt":"2022-09-29T09:08:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kapitalafrik.com\/?p=476474"},"modified":"2022-09-29T09:08:09","modified_gmt":"2022-09-29T09:08:09","slug":"tony-blair-institute-hires-frank-matsaert-as-director-of-trade-and-infrastructure-for-africa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.financialafrik.com\/en\/2022\/09\/29\/tony-blair-institute-hires-frank-matsaert-as-director-of-trade-and-infrastructure-for-africa\/","title":{"rendered":"Tony Blair Institute hires Frank Matsaert as Director of Trade and Infrastructure for Africa"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"pdfprnt-buttons pdfprnt-buttons-post pdfprnt-top-bottom-left\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Tony Blair Institute has hired Frank Matsaert to fill a new role as Director of Trade and Infrastructure for Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mr Matsaert was the founder Chief Executive Officer of TradeMark East Africa (TMEA) from its establishment in October 2010 until August 2022, growing it from a $60m programme to the largest and most successful trade facilitation institution in Africa, with a cumulative budget of $1.3 billion across fifteen countries. He received an MBE award from the Her Majesty the Queen for his services to trade and economic development in Eastern Africa in June 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In his new role as Director of Trade and Infrastructure, Frank will&nbsp;work closely with Guy Baron, TBI\u2019s Investment Director, to&nbsp;grow trade and investment by scaling-up trade facilitation and&nbsp;creating&nbsp;a pipeline of viable trade investments across Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He will take up the role on 1 December 2022 and will be based in Nairobi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mr Matsaert said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI am delighted to be joining the Institute as the new Trade and Infrastructure Director. Our aim is clear: to grow investment and trade across Africa by investing in trade systems with partner Governments, regional bodies and the private sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOur priorities will be to build on the Institute&#8217;s strong reputation for delivery at the heart of Government on trade,&nbsp; and to attract investment in key trade infrastructure and private sector projects across the Continent.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rishon Chimboza, Managing Director of Africa Advisory at the Tony Blair Institute said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFrank joins TBI at a critical time for governments across Africa, as they seek to attract&nbsp; investment and grow trade opportunities.
