The Vodacom Group released its results for the quarter ended September 2021 on Monday (November 15th). The data shows a 4.2% increase in revenue to 49.9 billion rand (3.2 billion USD) over the course of of the first nine months of the year.<\/p>\n

During this period, the operator says it added 6.2 million customers, to serve a total of 129.9 million customers, while declaring an interim dividend of 420 cents per share, up 1.2%.<\/p>\n

For its part, overall earnings per share fell to 505 cents per share, from 532 cents per share previously. But increased by 3% after the one-time adjustment of the deferred tax rate from the previous period.<\/p>\n

Local market<\/p>\n

In South Africa, the company’s local market, service revenues increased 3.6% to R 28.6 billion (USD 1.8 billion), supported by continued demand for connectivity, wholesale revenues additional services and the growth of new services.<\/p>\n

Turnover from mobile subscribers increased by 4% to 10.6 billion rand (694 million USD) during the period under review. For its part, data traffic grew 13.1% over the period and accelerated to 17.9% in the second quarter. Quarter over quarter, data traffic is up 12.6%.<\/p>\n

In its outlook, the company said it will focus on developing its various service offerings and continue to enter into merger and acquisition agreements.<\/p>\n

As a reminder, on November 10, the group announced that it had taken a 30% stake in the fiber assets of Community Investment Ventures Holdings (CIVH).<\/p>\n
