As members of the <\/span>MobiliseYourCity Global Partnershi<\/b>p, <\/span>Casablanca and Rabat-Sal\u00e9<\/b> have been invited to share <\/span>the results of the ex-post evaluation<\/b> to the Partnership\u2019s global Community of Practice, constituted by mobility practitioners and decision-makers from 65 cities and 15 countries worldwide. Local representatives of the two implementing agencies will be joined by the <\/span>French Development Agency (AFD)<\/b> and further experts to reflect on <\/span>the impacts of these technologies and their potential role as high level of service mass-transit solutions to cities in the <\/b>Global South<\/b>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The two first lines of tramways have been in operation in the cities of Rabat-Sal\u00e9 and Casablanca since 2011 and 2012. These modern systems, at grade and segregated, were introduced by the two local authorities to improve mobility and quality of life of their citizens, and to tackle decline of public transport service and rising congestion levels.<\/span><\/p>\n

After 10 years of successful operations, an ex-post evaluation has been conducted with support from the French Development Agency (AFD) and the two implementing agencies, Societ\u00e9 des tramways de Rabat-Sal\u00e9 (STRS) and Casa Transports. This evaluation gives comprehensive analysis of the impact of these systems on the mobility, the urban fabric, well-being of the citizens, gender equity, environment, climate and the overall economy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
