Faced with the press on August 24, 2021 in Algiers, the Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ramtane Lamamra, announced the severance of diplomatic relations with neighboring Morocco, due, he said, to hostile actions by the kingdom of the Sharif to the regard to his country.<\/p>\n

Justifying this decision, the former Commissioner for Peace and Security of the African Union said that “history has shown that the Kingdom of Morocco has never ceased to carry out hostile actions against from Algeria “. And the break as announced takes effect on Tuesday, August 24.<\/p>\n

“Moroccan propaganda and security services are waging a vile war against Algeria, its people and its leaders by spreading rumors and spreading malicious and inflammatory information,” Ramtane Lamamra also said, accusing the neighboring country of adopt a behavior which \u201cleads to conflict instead of integration in the region\u201d of the Maghreb.<\/p>\n

This decision, said the Algerian minister, will not affect the citizens of the two countries. Consular affairs will work normally, he reassures.<\/p>\n

“Morocco regrets this completely unjustified but expected decision – in view of the logic of escalation observed in recent weeks,” the kingdom’s Moroccan foreign ministry replied in a statement. Rejecting in passing “the fallacious, even absurd, pretexts which underlie it”.<\/p>\n
