In Mali, the transitional government is preparing to relaunch gold production at the Morila gold mine. The information was given during a field visit by the Minister of Mines, Energy and Water, Lamine Seydou Traor\u00e9, on February 1, 2021.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are on the way to saving more than 500 direct jobs and nearly 2,000 indirect jobs. So in this context, it was important for us to come and see how all this arsenal is being put in place for the benefit of the neighboring populations, and in general for the benefit of the Malian population \u201d, he declared to during his field visit.<\/p>\n

For his part, the general manager of the mine, Drissa Arama, explained that \u201ctoday, the future of Morila is on a good trend and we hope that with the investments that we must have very soon, we can start mining. You can say that things are going as we planned \u201d.<\/p>\n

According to him, Morila SA’s gold production is around 120 kilograms per month.
\nLater adding that “we have to go around 200, 300 up to a ton of gold per month, that is what we plan to do. We believe that in the future, we will be able to increase production with many more resources \u201d.<\/p>\n

To date, the gold company produces more than 7.4 million ounces of gold from surface mining and processing of stocks and tailings over 20 years of Barrick \/ AngloGold ownership.<\/p>\n

Note that the Morila gold mine is an operating gold mine and has a 4.5 million tonne per year processing plant and all the infrastructure required for a stand-alone mine site. It has been in operation since 2000, and the site, located some 280 km south-east of Bamako, is extractive.<\/p>\n
