The Ambassador of Egypt in C\u00f4te d’Ivoire, HE Dr. Wael BADAWI, received today, Friday January 15, 2021, the Babacar NDIAYE 2020 Trophy on behalf of President Abdel Fattah al-SISI , President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, 2020 winner of the Super Prize Great Builder \u2013 Troph\u00e9e Babacar NDIAYE.<\/p>\n

The Trophy was presented by the Representative of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Mr. Mike SALAWOU, Representative of the President of the Bank, Dr Akinwumi ADESINA, The Godfather.<\/p>\n

HE Dr. Wael BADAWI said:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a great honor for me to accept, on behalf of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, the \u201cAfrica Road Builders \u2013 Babacar NDIAYE Trophy\u201d for the year 2020\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThis award acknowledges and highlights key mega infrastructure projects that Egypt was able to implement under the auspices of H.E President Al-Sisi. Egypt\u2019s growing population and dynamic economy have resulted in an imperative need for greater infrastructure development. Over the recent years, the Egyptian government has spearheaded significant investments in its road system to ensure economic development and promote the right of Egyptian citizens to have access to all social services\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cOnce again, on behalf of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, I wish to thank Acturoutes and the Media Network for Infrastructure and Finance in Africa for this award and thank Mr. Mike Salawou for handing over the prize on behalf of Mr. Akinwumi Adesina, President of the African Development Bank Group. I shall\u00a0 swiftly convey the award to its August Destination.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

As a reminder, the Selection Committee appointed President Abdel Fattah al-SISI as the 2020 winner of the Babacar NDIAYE Trophy for his personal leadership and for carrying out several works that contribute to improving the quality of life of the populations. The Selection Committee particularly welcomed:<\/p>\n

1- The Heliopolis metro station project in Cairo<\/p>\n

2- The project of the suspension bridge over the Nile, in Cairo<\/p>\n

3- The Damietta port extension project and the rehabilitation of the Tanta – Mansourah – Damietta railway line<\/p>\n

The General Commission thanks all the personalities who have contributed to the success of The Africa Road Builders \u2013 Troph\u00e9e Babacar NDIAYE for more than five years. He particularly expresses his deep gratitude to the President of the AfDB and to the entire Pan-African institution for the sponsorship they give to this event. The General Commission also thanks Prof. Carlos LOPES, former Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, University Professor in South Africa and at Science Po Paris.<\/p>\n
