Hit hard by the coronavirus with cases taking the lift, Morocco has decided to take the bull by the horns. In a statement dated Monday, November 9, the royal cabinet announced that King Muhamed VI has ordered a massive vaccination operation against Covid-19 in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

The Cherifian kingdom thus becomes the first country in the world to initiate mass vaccination to fight against the spread of the virus. This national operation aims to cover the population with a vaccine as an appropriate means of immunization against the virus and of controlling its spread.<\/p>\n

Based on the results of clinical studies that have already been completed or are still in progress, the safety, efficacy and immunogenicity of the vaccine have been proven.<\/p>\n

This operation should cover citizens over the age of 18, according to a vaccination schedule in two injections 21 days apart. Priority will be given in particular to front-line personnel, in this case, health personnel, public authorities, security forces and national education personnel, as well as the elderly and people vulnerable to the virus. , and this, before extending it to the rest of the population.<\/p>\n

According to the local press, nearly 5 million doses of vaccines will be sent to Morocco in the coming days.<\/p>\n

As part of extending vaccination to the entire population, the kingdom has entered into several agreements with pharmaceutical companies including Britain’s AstraZeneca and Chinese Sinopharm.<\/p>\n
