{"id":468360,"date":"2020-09-21T14:55:07","date_gmt":"2020-09-21T13:55:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kapitalafrik.com\/?p=468360"},"modified":"2020-09-21T14:55:07","modified_gmt":"2020-09-21T13:55:07","slug":"mali-secretary-general-of-la-francophonie-appoints-cheikh-tidiane-gadio-as-special-envoy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.financialafrik.com\/en\/2020\/09\/21\/mali-secretary-general-of-la-francophonie-appoints-cheikh-tidiane-gadio-as-special-envoy\/","title":{"rendered":"Mali: Secretary General of La Francophonie appoints Cheikh Tidiane Gadio as Special Envoy"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"pdfprnt-buttons pdfprnt-buttons-post pdfprnt-top-bottom-left\"><\/div><div>The Secretary General of La Francophonie, Her Excellency Louise Mushikiwabo, appointed His Excellency Cheikh Tidiane Gadio, of the Republic of Senegal, as Special Envoy for monitoring the situation in Mali.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>This designation is part of the resolution adopted on August 25 by the 111th extraordinary session of the Permanent Council of La Francophonie (CPF), to support the process of restoring democratic institutions in Mali and helping to find solutions for exiting lasting and credible crisis taking into account the expectations of Malian citizens.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>In close coordination with international partners, mainly ECOWAS and the African Union, the Special Envoy will be responsible for supporting the Secretary General of La Francophonie in accompanying the civil transition process.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The Special Envoy will lead a high-level mission to Bamako in the coming days. The delegation will include in particular Mrs. Nadia El Yousfi, Member of the Brussels Parliament and of the Parliament of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, member of the Bureau of the Parliamentary Affairs Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie (APF) and of His Excellency Mr. Moha Ouali Tagma, Ambassador of His Majesty the King of Morocco to the Federal Republic of Nigeria and ECOWAS in Abuja.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Dr. Cheikh Tidiane Gadio is a former Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Senegal and currently Vice-President of the National Assembly (since October 2019). He chairs the Pan-African Institute for Peace-Security-Governance Strategy (IPS). With a very rich diplomatic experience, Mr. Gadio has led numerous mediation and facilitation missions, in particular for the African Union, the Economic Community of West African States and the Organization for Cooperation Islamic.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Ms. Nadia El Yousfi is a Member of the Brussels Parliament and the Parliament of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, member of the Bureau of the Parliamentary Affairs Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie (APF), of which she is Rapporteur for electoral matters. She was also elected to the Belgian Senate and was Alderman of Forest from 2006 to 2009. Ms. El Yousfi participated in several information and contact missions for the Francophonie (Tunisia, Mauritius).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Mr. Moha Ouali Tagma has been a diplomat of the Kingdom of Morocco for nearly 40 years. He was notably Ambassador of His Majesty the King of Morocco in Dakar (Senegal) and Warsaw (Poland), as well as Diplomatic Advisor to the Permanent Mission of Morocco to the UN in Geneva.
