{"id":467836,"date":"2020-03-17T12:47:19","date_gmt":"2020-03-17T11:47:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kapitalafrik.com\/?p=467836"},"modified":"2020-03-17T12:47:19","modified_gmt":"2020-03-17T11:47:19","slug":"mfw4a-call-for-essays-on-financial-sector-development","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.financialafrik.com\/en\/2020\/03\/17\/mfw4a-call-for-essays-on-financial-sector-development\/","title":{"rendered":"MFW4A: Call for essays on financial sector development"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"pdfprnt-buttons pdfprnt-buttons-post pdfprnt-top-bottom-left\"><\/div><p><span lang=\"EN-US\">The Making Finance Work for Africa Partnership (MFW4A) invites researchers and students enrolled in an academic institution to submit an essay on the African financial sector.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">The call for essays aims to foster a better understanding of the issues challenging financial sector development in Africa and to gather thoughts, opinions and innovative ideas on how to develop the sector.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Topics selected for this call are aligned with MFW4A\u2019s priority themes, including:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em><span lang=\"EN-US\">Addressing financial illiteracy in Africa<\/span><\/em><\/strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><span lang=\"EN-US\">(financial inclusion);<\/span><\/li>\n<li><a><strong><em><span lang=\"EN-US\">Deposit and Consignment Funds\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/a><span lang=\"EN-US\"><a id=\"m_2060023773866777952m_-1316175546818039540_anchor_1\" href=\"https:\/\/mail.google.com\/mail\/u\/0\/#m_2060023773866777952_m_-1316175546818039540__msocom_1\" name=\"m_2060023773866777952_m_-1316175546818039540__msoanchor_1\">[RR1]<\/a>\u00a0<\/span><strong><em><span lang=\"EN-US\">and African institutional investors: Roadmap for better social and economic outcomes<\/span><\/em><\/strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><span lang=\"EN-US\">(long-term finance);<em>\u00a0and<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong><em><span lang=\"EN-US\">Regulating non-bank financial services and Fintechs<\/span><\/em><\/strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><span lang=\"EN-US\">(governance and financial stability).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">To be eligible, applicants must be at\u00a0least 18 years of age in 2020\u00a0and registered at an academic institution (university, college, etc.) either as student or researcher. There are no restrictions regarding a candidate\u2019s field of study, however, the essay must be original, unpublished, and must relate to one of the above topics. Applicants from all countries are\u00a0eligible\u00a0to submit their essay, either in French or English.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">The winning author will be awarded a 1,000-euro grant and will also be invited to discuss his\/her essay with financial sector specialists during an MFW4A or partner event. The winning essay, along with the two runners-up, will be published on the MFW4A portal, the MFW4A newsletter and the blog section of the websites of MFW4A donors and partners.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Please submit a short outline that provides an overview of the essay by March 31, 2020. Selected authors will be invited to submit their full essay no later than May 15, 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">No fees<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0are required from applicants.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">The secretariat particularly encourages essay submissions by women and students from the African Development Bank\u2019s regional member countries.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">The Making Finance Work for Africa Partnership (MFW4A) is a unique platform for African financial sector development research, advocacy, knowledge management and networking.
