{"id":466363,"date":"2019-07-10T12:32:10","date_gmt":"2019-07-10T11:32:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kapitalafrik.com\/?p=466363"},"modified":"2019-07-10T12:32:10","modified_gmt":"2019-07-10T11:32:10","slug":"abidjan-capital-of-the-african-growth-opportunity-act-agoa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.financialafrik.com\/en\/2019\/07\/10\/abidjan-capital-of-the-african-growth-opportunity-act-agoa\/","title":{"rendered":"Abidjan, capital of the African Growth Opportunity Act (AGOA)"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"pdfprnt-buttons pdfprnt-buttons-post pdfprnt-top-bottom-left\"><\/div><p>The 18th Edition of the US-Africa Sub-Saharan Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum (AGOA Forum called &#8220;AGOA Forum C\u00f4te d&#8217;Ivoire 2019&#8221;) will be held from 04 to 06 August 2019 in Abidjan on the theme: &#8220;Agoa and the Future: Development of a new paradigm to guide trade relations and investments between the United States and Africa &#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>This event will see the participation of more than 2000 personalities including American and African Political and Economic Leaders from the 39 countries eligible for AGOA, RECs: Regional Economic Communities (ECOWAS, UEMOA, SADEC, COMESA &#8230;), Multinational Organizations of Development (AfDB, World Bank &#8230;) and Members of the Private Sector and Civil Society of the USA and Africa. As such, the Government of C\u00f4te d&#8217;Ivoire signed an Order No. 036 \/ PM \/ CAB of 1 February 2019 establishing the National Organizing Committee of the AGOA Cote d&#8217;Ivoire Forum.<\/p>\n<p>The African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), a law on growth and opportunity in Africa, is a US law that was promulgated by the US Congress in May 2000, allowing sub-Saharan African countries eligible for export their products to the US market without duty and quota. In 2010, it was extended for the first time for five years, and in 2015 for the second time until 2025 for a period of ten years. Under the leadership of APEX-CI, C\u00f4te d&#8217;Ivoire obtained its eligibility for AGOA in April 2002 and its renewal in 2003 and 2004, as well as the customs visa for the export of textile products to the US in October 2003.<\/p>\n<p>After his big comeback in 2011 and during his participation in the seventeenth (17th) edition of the AGOA Forum, which took place from 09 to 12 July 2018, in Washington DC, in the United States of America, the American administration, The African Union and all the African countries unanimously chose C\u00f4te d&#8217;Ivoire to host the AGOA Forum in Abidjan in 2019.
